I started in insurance 16 years ago with one of the big carriers, and went independent eight years ago so I could offer my clients more than one option. Most of my clients came from referrals: a neighbor, a realtor, a client's kid who just bought their first house.
What I enjoy most is sitting down with a family and making the policy make sense. No jargon, no rushing. If a different carrier fits you better, I'll tell you. If your current coverage is fine, I'll tell you that too.
